events

Friday, Oct.18th

10:00am – 12:00pm – MFF Roundtable Discussion
Mesa Convention Center, Building B – Conference Room – 263 N Center St.

This is a new twist on the normal networking parties.  Rather than attending and hoping to bump into someone, you’ll have the ability to introduce yourself to the group as well as be introduced to them as well.  Each attendee will be given 60 seconds to say who they are, what they do, and what they’re looking for.  Once everyone has been given a turn to speak, feel free to break off into smaller groups to discuss your career.

12:00 – 2:00pm – “Cutting Class: Editing 101” with Ita Uda-Ema
Mesa Convention Center, Building B – Conference Theater – 263 N Center St.

Editing is more than pushing buttons.  Cutting Class attendees will learn to see the editing process as more than simply cut and paste.  We won’t be focusing on a particular platform, instead, participants will learn to see the “Art of Editing”. This workshop is intended for “non-editors” who have always been interested in the field and other creative professionals who want to better communicate with their editor.

1:00 – 2:00pm – “How to Market Small Media” with Bob Nelson
Mesa Convention Center, Building B – Palo Verde Room 2 – 263 N Center St.

Bob Nelson will discuss how to make the most of your marketing budget and how to effectively market films, books, podcasts, and many other types of media.

2:00 – 3:00pm – “Independent Film Production” with Roy Thomasson
Mesa Convention Center, Building B – Palo Verde Room 2 – 263 N Center St.

Roy Thomasson will discuss his 20+ years of experience in producing independent films and offer tips and advice on producing your films.

3:00 – 4:00pm – “An Independent Studio Lens” with Hitesh Patel
Mesa Convention Center, Building B – Palo Verde Room 2 – 263 N Center St.

Hitesh will discuss the state of affairs in the rapidly-transforming entertainment space, including lively topics entitled “The Rise of The Streamers”, “Ethnic Plurality Rules”, and “The World Really Is Flat”, and how each of this trends directly impacts filmmakers, performers, and producers of new content today.

4:00 – 11:00pm – Film Screenings at Participating Venues

11:00pm – 2:00am – Placebo Pro After Party
